Stay healthy without trying

The best kind of health is when you do something effortless that you didn’t even know was healthy. Tell me if I’m wrong here, but today it seems like we need to do a million things to stay healthy. The day should start with a ginger shot and hot lemon water, followed by an hour long walk, to later hit some weights in the gym. Have a green protein smoothie for breakfast together with a thousand “superfoods”, and finish your day with yoga and meditation. Not to mention we have to keep a journal and write down our gratitude and goals every day. I prefer when you’re just healthy without trying.

If you’re doing this everyday I salute you, but for the normal person, living like this every day is not sustainable. But, my dear friends, to be healthy doesn’t need to be this detailed and specific. Health is actually pretty simple, and there’s so many things you can do every day without even realizing that you’re healthy. Get ready to bathe in the fountain of health, because here are some saucy hacks that you can start doing today!

stay healthy

Wake and hydrate

No wake and bake here, but wake and get that water in! Make it a habit to go straight to the tap every morning and chug down 1-2 glasses of water. Well, if you’re like me and usually need to take a pee-pee the first thing in the morning, do that first…please. Drinking a glass of water takes you about 30 seconds extra every morning, and I know you can afford that for your health. Hydration is a major key, as DJ Khaled would say. We’re basically made of water, and if our hydration isn’t in place, everything will feel kinda off.

Add some color to your plate

Eat whatever you love to eat, just make sure you add some veggies to your meals. Yes, I’m telling you to eat your pizza, snack on your chips, just also incorporate some greens or veggies sticks in between those bites. We know that veggies are good for us, and somehow we’ve got the misconception that we have to stop eating other foods just because we eat our veggies. This is not true! As long as you’re incorporating more colors onto your plate, you’re winning!

Move your feet

Walking is one of the most natural forms of movement for us humans,.The problem today is that we don’t do enough of it. If you think I’m going to tell you to “get those 10 000” steps in, you’re wrong! If you can get in 10 000 steps a day that’s amazing, but any movement is better than no movement! Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator, walk to the grocery store, park a few minutes away from your destination and walk! Even on those days where you’re just too lazy for your own good and order take out straight to the door, at least make the effort to go outside to meet your carrier. he doesn’t need to come all the way to your door step.

Get up, stand up

If you have a sedentary 9-5 job, you’re most likely squishing down your juicy ass most of the day. Get a standing desk and bless the office with a better view of your beautiful behind. I mean as long as people aren’t being creepy of course! The simple action of standing up is way better for our health than sitting down, especially for long periods of time. If you don’t feel ready to give the standing life your full 8 hours, start out by standing at least a few hours each day.

Gratitude

You don’t have to write down your daily gratitude’s in a journal each day, but you should at least say them out loud at least think about them hard enough. We are so blessed with a lot of things if we really start to think about them. If we step into life with a grateful mindset we are more likely to be healthy, have a better understanding for different people, and to be less irritable and stressed.

Get off the grid

Sleep is one of the most important things for us and we know this very well. What we are not as good at is actually prioritizing it. I feel like I talk about sleep in almost every blog post, but man, it’s major importante!! What I like to do when it’s time for sleepy time is to get of the grid during my nighttime hibernation. By this I mean turn your phone in to airplane mode and don’t put it back on until you’re stepping out the door the next morning. This will make you sleep without any disruptions and it will also help you get more efficient in the morning.

Brush your teeth

Now you might be thinking, dear woman, how nasty do you think we are? Of course you should brush your teeth. This isn’t rocket science? I know that you guys aren’t a bunch of nasty asses (or at least I hope you’re not), and that you probably brush your teeth two times a day. But, I want you to really take care of your sweet fangs. Floss them, brush them, mouthwash them. Your oral health is way more important to your overall health than you might think. Our body is so connected in every way, that if one thing is off, it can severely affect the other. So keep that mouth fresh and clean!

Phone a friend

Tell the people you love that they’re awesome. Send a weird GIF to your friend, grab coffee with them, phone your mom or siblings. Make sure to have some social interaction everyday. No matter how much of a lone wolf you might be, we all benefit from social interactions, how small or how big they might be.

Laugh

While you might not be able to force a legit hard laugh, try to at least fake one everyday. At least a smile. Move those lips into a little grin! Laughing, smiling, or grinning are all a easy mood boosting hack. “A happy wife is a happy life”, but I would say that “happy people are a happy world”. I know, there was no saucy rhymes in that line what so ever, but I’m not Busta Rhymes. Don’t expect too much of me.

Health shouldn’t be this complex thing that set us up for failure. True health is something you can keep up with on a daily basis, because in the long run it’s the small daily efforts that actually make a difference. I hope you enjoyed this tips and get out there, grab life by the balls, and live your best, healthiest life!
